In this tutorial we will be adding a new content category in Joomla 2.5.

• To begin navigate to Content > Category Manager > Add New Category
• Enter a Title for the category.
• If you set an alias, that's what will be used when creating SEF URLs with the category name in them.
• You can make this category a child of another category
• You can set the default access for this category.
• You can also choose the languages that this category applies to.
• If you set a description that will be shown on the main categroy view page.
• There is a complete granular permissions system giving you the ability to choose exactly what any level of user on your site can do to articles in any category.
• If you wat to set a default user that new posts are shown as created by you can set that here.
• You can also change the layout for this category. This can only be done if the template you're using supports multiple layouts.
• You can also choose an image to identify the category and add notes.
• You can also set the most popular metadata information.
• When you have the category setup, you'll want to save it.
• Our new category has been created.
